19.11.2006 Based on the idea of a moving white cube, I've built a 1:10 scale model of a - let's call it - "Robotik Room". The main purpose of this model was to get a better idea, about how the mechanical engineering could work. Even if I think, that it is not so complicated to build such a room in general, I have some constraints which make it a bit difficult. The constraints are: - It must be possible to disassemble the whole setup fast and easy and it is necessary to get the parts very small for storing and transporting it. - The making of the room has to be cheap, but it also has to work very reliable. Safety is a very important issue, as well. - The space that it requires to build it and set it up has to fit in my workshop. The room model, that I've built consists of two mechanical models. One is the room itself and the other is a rotating disc inside the room, which will turn the wheelchair around its y-axis. I've shot a video, where you can see the scale models in action. |

21.2.2007 It is a long time ago, that I updated my webpage. In the meantime, I started with building the room. Now, you are invited to have a first look at it, in that really large gallery. |
26.2.2007 Just six days later, here's another set of pictures. The highlight of this gallery might be the panorama of my workshop, which you can find at the end of the gallery. |
27.3.2007 Because this six day update rhythm causes too much stress, here are some more pictures. One month later. Ok, to tell the truth, I have those pictures already on my desktop for some weeks. I just haven't found the time to scan and to publish them. But now, I am sitting here in a museum in Gijon, Spain, and I am waiting for the technicians that we can setup my good old piece Pongmechanik for an exhibition which starts on friday. It is pretty cool, here. Very nice architecture. But I have nothing to do. And this sucks. |
27.3.2007 Before I went to Spain, of course, I wanted to see the room in action. But I was also a bit afraid, because I didn't know what I can expect from some of the parts. So I've done material duty tests in my backyard. Even if it is quite positive, that I didn't manage to damage any part during those tests, this fact makes that video a bit boring. |
27.3.2007 After those successful duty tests, I went back inside and filmed the room going up and down. What can I say? It works! So, have a look! |
9.4.2007 Here's another set of pictures. You'll have seen most of the parts in the videos already, but now you can have a closer look. |
27.5.2007 I made another concept drawing, which explains what kind of pictures could be shown inside the Robotik Room. At the moment, I like this idea a lot, because it offers a good opportunity to let other artists participate in an easy, very open, and also spectacular way. |
30.6.2007 When I showed the Gallerydrive and the Robotik Room at the UdK last month, my collegues of the "Group for Serviceart and Decorationdesign", Jana Linke and La Belle Imira helped me to shoot this nice presentation video. |
